Phokus Research Trauma Kits and Their Many Uses
Phokus Research Trauma Kits and Their Many Uses
Under Armor Kits
Trauma can strike at any moment on the battlefield. These traumatic moments are often chaotic, with combatants scrambling to recover and tend to wounded comrades as the battle rages on around them. In these moments where seconds can be the difference between life or death, it’s essential that necessary life-saving trauma kits can be easily accessed and utilized without fumbling through various packs and pouches looking for them.
The folks at Phokus Research Group understand this and have created an entire line of trauma kits designed to fit comfortably and securely behind a soldier’s ballistic plates or concealable armor, virtually undetectable to the wearer.
Phokus Research Group’s patented trauma kit design slides easily into the negative space behind a ballistic plate, protecting the contents from damage and allowing the user to reach it in seconds. Phokus has reduced the bulk of a standard kit by 75% without sacrificing any items, bringing the weight down to a mere 11.7 ounces. Its vertical design and flexible vinyl packaging conform to the torso, so the wearer hardly notices the kit at all.
The most popular Phokus Research item is also their flagship product – the Deployment Trauma Kit II.
Deployment Trauma Kit II
The original Phokus trauma kit design, the Deployment Trauma Kit II (DTKII), was designed for maximum efficiency and to eliminate cumbersome medical pouches from a soldier’s loadout. DTKIIs are pressure sealed and only three-quarters of an inch thick, perfect for securing behind a ballistic plate so the soldier doesn’t have to carry it in an attached pouch.
Heavy-duty medical-grade vinyl protects the contents of the kit for up to 30 months, almost double the amount of time of other kits. The ergonomic design renders the DTKII virtually undetectable to the wearer regardless of their position.
In traumatic moments, the DTKII can be pulled free and used in seconds.
Each DTKII contains the following:
- Combat Gauze
- Z-Fold Gauze x2
- Occlusive Dressing x2
- Decompression
- NPA W/ 550
- 3” Elastic Bandage
- Nitrile Gloves
- Casualty Card
- 2” Safety Pins x2
- Sharpie Marker
Waterproof Deployment Trauma Kit II
In addition to everything included in the standard DTKII, the Waterproof Deployment Trauma Kit II is packaged in the Nautilus bladder, a waterproof pouch that also easily fits behind ballistic plates for convenient carrying.
The Nautilus bladder has been tested dustproof and waterproof to IP67, providing total protection to the kit’s contents from water, dust, and sand. The patented TRU Zip waterproof zippers block any and all water from seeping into the kit while still allowing the user to access both compartments easily.
The Waterproof DTKII should be a must-have item when the mission calls for dangerous situations in wet climates.
Low Visibility Deployment Trauma Kit II
The Low Visibility Deployment Trauma Kit II is the perfect compact kit for when space is at a premium. The low visibility version of the DTKII was engineered for maximum durability and efficiency during trauma treatment.
At only half an inch thick and weighing barely half a pound, the low-vis DTKII fits where other kits don’t – under ballistic plates, in backpacks, weapon cases, glove boxes, the small of the back, and even cargo pants.
This kit was designed for quick deployment. The contents are packaged around injury patterns in order of priority for care and adhere to all TCCC guidelines.
Sometimes, a single trauma kit isn’t enough to provide the correct level of care. Phokus Research Group’s War Fighter Bundles are ready for use in traumatic moments that call for extra attention.
Originally developed for soldiers who carry a gun but do not wear body armor, the Shield Trauma Kit is pocket-sized and small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, ankle holster, or a variety of other smaller places. It also fits easily behind ballistic plate carriers.
Each Shield Trauma Kit contains the following:
- Combat Gauze
- SWAT-T
- Medical Tape
While both War Fighter Bundles contain DTKIIs, the v8 bundle uses a special Split Kit version of the popular trauma kit. The Split Kit utilizes the same plate-shaped heavy-duty medical grade vinyl pouch that easily fits behind plate carriers, but this version has a middle seam that separates the pouch into two distinct compartments accessible by dual zippers. The middle seam allows the Split Kit to bend more easily, making it contour to the body more efficiently. A Split Kit contains all the same life-saving materials as a standard DTKII, but the separate compartments can be searched more quickly because each holds half of the contents.
